I'm aware that pollsters used to not take themselves very seriously
at all, as was indeed, indicated by the aforementioned survey.
While that survey had some serious flaws, whatever validity it
did have applied only at that moment in time.

At the time of my post, it was quite evident that the mood had
changed, and the majority of pollsters  were, in fact, taking
themselves way too seriously.
