Mom is giong through the "best friend" competition right now, with Angel.
She's finding it exhausting because she feels (and I agree) that at her
age - and Angel's age - there shouldn't be this pettiness involved in
friend****ps, nor should it be a requirement that they speak on a daily
basis. There's been a few times when Angel has gotten dangerously close
to
the line where Mom is ready to tell her, "Look, I don't have time for
this."
Usually that's when Angel is trying to monopolize her while I'm there, or
my
sister is there.
Mom started out encouraging me to hang out with Angel also - presumably to
give Mom a rest - but I can't handle being around someone where you have
to
carefully scrutinize your vocabulary and tone of voice for fear of
upsetting
them. Finally, Mom realized that I wasn't going to watch my mouth around
Angel (and I have hurt her feelings), so has stopped pu****ng me. I like
Angel, but in small doses. And some of the times I've gotten annoyed with
her has been when I really wanted to talk to Mom without an audience and
I've said, somewhat humorously, "Angel, can I have my Mom back now? This
is
sort of im****tant."
As for the last close friend I've made, I guess that's Scott. Or Barrett.
