I like my job. Partly because I dont have to deal with office politics,
the making of desisons, not because it's the right decision, but because
of who suggested it, or who sup****ts or how it will affect me, or for any
of the other myriad petty reasons.
I don't want ot give the impression that I'm free from it. I have to deal
with people all the time, some of them not too bright. I get referral work
from several people or companies and my first obligation is to them. But I
have to deal with or get instructions from other people, boards of
directors and the like. Sometimes I engage the the Lie White, or am
politic in my discussions when the absolute truth would be better. I've
even formed cliques to get my ideas adopted when I could have let them
speak for themselves. Fortunately I don't have to do this on a daily, or
even weekly or perhaps monthly basis. Also furtunately, if I have problems
with a person or group, I don't have to work for them again.
How do you, those who work in offices or among groups of people, deal with
this sort of behavior among coworkers? Are there been egregious examples
that caused you to quit, or almost quit a job? How do you stay sane if you
need to deal with it daily?
charles, why yes, something similar did come up today, why do you ask,
