Back when I was baking, I wasn't using a bread machine either.  There's 
something really therapeutic about beating the hell out of bread dough.

Kat and Eddie bought me a bread machine one year for Christmas, and I
hated 
it.  It ended up that they were making the bread, using box mixes, and I 
just sort of gave up on baking.  It just took the fun out of it.

Sort of the difference between making a soup from scratch and making soup 
from one of those soup mixes you can get at the store.  I like to cook 
because I like to cook, not because I like to assemble things.
