I don't know what counts as a proper freezer over there, and what is an
icebox that's part of the fridge.

I think that would be the most common type for poor people to have,
assuming they had anything.  I know those are common among the rural poor,
I don't know about the center-city poor.

There are "dorm fridges", which have the freezer compartment actually
inside the fridge compartment rather than being separate compartment on
the
same chassis.
