Why would it be a separate trip if you were already going to the
place you were dropping it off at? This is how they take plastic
shopping bags back at grocery stores.

Since people would be dropping it off, I suspect that any
participation would be viable. Being a drop off location could be
worth it to a McDonalds because people might also stop off and eat
a meal there. At least McDonalds could claim it was doing its part
for the environment.

I guess it depends on what you mean by a lot. At $4.50 a gallon, I
suspect that sending the kids out monthly with a wagon to pick up
peoples' pails of grease starts to be worth it.

If you aren't using a deep fryer, you don't have as much oil to
dump, by far. OTOH, if you were using one, you might wonder about
dumping out a half gallon of oil.
