credit cards

by xhoster@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Apr 14, 2008 at 06:08 PM

Congratulations to me, I qualify for free upgrade to my credit card.
If I accept the upgrade, I get all kinds of nice things. Like these
nebulous "points". Hopefully they aren't the same kind of points that
cause your auto insurance to go up.

I also get "No pre-set spending limit", which apparently means I will
have a secret pre-set spending limit which I won't know about until the
card is declined in some awkward cir***stance.

And "Special access to unique experiences", which I assume means they
would
be calling during "the News Hour with Jim Lehrer" and trying to sell me
crap I don't want even more than they do now.

And "preferred savings and special offers at top retailers", which
probably
means they would calling while I'm reading the paper and trying to sell me
crap I don't want even more than they do now.

Then there is "24-hour concierge service to help with everything from
booking travel to gift buying". OK, so what is this? Have any of you
lucky, lucky people with the Titanium Polonium Neutronium Rewards Card
ever
used this service? Was it of any use? How (and how much) do you tip a
concierge over the telephone?

While on the topic of credit cards services I don't use, how do those
balance transfer things work? It seems like it would be a Three Stooges
act between you and the two credit cards while checks and bills and ACHs
cross-criss each other through the mail and the ether.

Xho
