Nukes

From my living room window I can see the Indian Point reactors. And 
that got me thinking of things. No, I think nuclear energy is safe. But
why
do so many people fear it, seemingly irrationally. Ok, so people tend to
act irrationally.

But then I got a thought. Maybe, just maybe, nuclear bombs are the
reason. I mean, whenever there's discussion about nuclear energy, the
opponents always claim that the plants will explode. Just like nuclear
bombs. Of course, this isn't true. But a lot of people, not knowing any
better, know that it would be a bad thing. So we can't take the risk.

So in essence, maybe nuclear bombs are to blame for global warming.
Without them, this false idea wouldn't exist. And without the nuclear
arms race, the Russian RBMK reactor wouldn't have existed either. The
type that Chernobyl was. And there would be less opposition towards
nuclear energy, and we would've used it more than coal, oil and gas.

So, is Oppenheimer to blame for global warming?
