It was a kick-ass game. I thought the Jayhawks had blown it for sure, but
Memphis' inability to shoot free throws in the clutch was a godsend. For
those who didn't watch, Kansas led for most of the first half, fell
behind in the second half and had to foul Memphis repeatedly to have a
chance to win. The game went into OT when they hit a 3-point shot just
before the end of regulation, only the 3rd or 4th final game to ever do
so (I don't remember which). Kansas dominated in OT, partially due to the
fact that one of Memphis' star players had fouled out late in regulation.
And the Kansas players seemed pretty buoyed up by forcing the OT.
I did feel a little bad for the Memphis player who missed something like
4 freethrows down the stretch, but not too bad. I'm not a big Kansas fan,
but some of the Memphis players exuded an attitude that made me dislike
the team (particularly the guy who fouled out). And I have little
sympathy for teams that are lousy at shooting free throws.
