I bought a 32" LCD Sony Bravia 32S3000. If you only sit 6 feet from
the screen then anything larger than 32" may seem overwhelming.
Anyway, this Sony model adjusts itself automatically for room
lighting, and it also automatically adjusts for skin tones (something
that people seem to have trouble adjusting). The resolution is 720P
but the set can handle any signal up to and including 1080. All the
mavens say that below 50" your eye can't distinguish any difference
between 720 and 1080. You really should start reading web sites that
will tell you what you have to know to make a choice between plasma
and LCD. Your requirements are simple (DVD only), so if you rely on
getting what someone else has then you may be making a very expensive
mistake.
