I once knew a man who said, "I don't read fiction."  He said it in exactly

the same way that some people say, "I don't eat meat."

I was so taken aback that I didn't respond.  Later I tried to decide what 
was sadder -- that this man had cut himself off from one of the great art 
forms, or that he thought that it was somehow admirable that he had done
so.
