In Canada if you make an income tax payment by check or money order,
it's supposed to made out to the Receiver General; at one time that
was the Receiver General *for Canada*.  However, I once saw a list of
the payee names that would be accepted in practice; there were 20 or
30 of them, including things like "Tax Department" and "Income Tax".
I think "Internal Revenue Service" was on the list too.
