TRU Unit Traffic Stop Nets Bundle of Weed
This arrest didn't get much press coverage, but it shows how good
police work occurs everyday and how a "routine" act can yield
exceptional results.
While on aggressive patrol in the 5th District, TRU Unit beat 4226E
noticed a vehicle in which the passenger was holding a small child
in the front seat, without a safety seat.
The officers curbed the vehicle, approached and detected the strong
odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle. In addition, they saw
in plain view what they believed to be a "brick" of weed. The
occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody and a search of
the vehicle revealed: over 63,000 grams of cannabis with an estimated
street value of over $400,000!
Both the driver and passenger were subsequently charged with MULTIPLE
felonies.
Once again, this proves that the "routine" traffic stop, if executed
safely, can yield a good arrest and help to clean up the streets
of our City.
Great job to the TRU unit and all of the units that assisted in
this arrest.
Stay safe.
