And this morning it's working again. Pro tem. Fingers crossed. 


In the meantime I have tried out Paul's much-endorsed recommendation -
motzarella.org - and while, obviously, I'm not yet in a position to
comment
on reliability I can back up their claims of server capacity: connection,
header downloads, and body downloads are all fast. 

(Note to anyone choosing to sign up with motzarella: don't try to use
their
server immediately upon receipt of the e-mail confirming user name and
password; wait an hour or so before reconfiguring your news client.)
