I didn't mean to say that all I was going to do in the next decade is
knit lace-weight shawls.  Some of the Valencia is going to be tees for
my goddaughter and me.  Some of it may become a shawl or two.  Maybe
I'll sell some, too, but not the cherry red.

The thing is, lace weight yarn comes in skeins of 600-plus yards and
two will make a good-sized shawl.  Heavier yarns come in much shorter
skeins and, even though fewer yards are needed, there are still a lot
of joins, which are harder to hide in lace.  However, Cheryl Oberle's
book, "Folk Shawls", has a lot of non-lace shawls.

I should put some of the cotton DK yarn I have into the sale or trade
category on Ravelry.  The yarn itself is up in Lancaster, though, and
I don't know when I'll be back up there.

I've just discovered what looks like DK or worsted wool yarn for a
multi-colored sweater, here in my stash.  I got some yarn from someone
driven out of knitting by carpal tunnel syndrome and I've just started
looking closely at it.  Nice yarn, but I don't knit wool sweaters.  I
kind of hate to start knitting scarves out of it.
