Was this done with successive runs through the same filter, or with a 
new filter each time? 

The last time this was discussed here, it was suggested that the cost in 
brita filters to turn cheap vodka into expensive vodka was more than the 
difference in price between cheap vodka and expensive vodka, but no 
actual numbers were mentioned. 

Does anybody know how effective brita filters are at vodka, in terms of
the amount of vodka you can run through a filter before it stops having
any appreciable effect, or do I need to spend forty bucks on brita 
filters and do some science?
