Anyone remember those Alfred Hitchcock collections of spooky short stories
for kids?
There's one story in particular I'm trying to recall (although I'm not
even
sure it was in a Hitch collection).
It involved a boy who was sent on a journey, I believe it was sailing from
one Pacific island to another (but could have been one Arabian oasis to
another), to get something (maybe a lamp or ring), and an evil magician,
possibly his uncle, was out to foil the boy's plan. What I remember most
vividly was the illustration, which showed the boy being menaced by the
magician/uncle, who had grown to giant size and was waving the
lamp/ring/thing as he loomed large.
Ring any bells?
