I showed up at the Same Day Surgery clinic this morning at 0800, after
being told that I would probably not be called into the prep room for
at least two hours, because that's the way it is.
However, one of the patients scheduled before me was a no-show, so I
got to go straight in.
They put in some eye drops to numb the eye (After drawing a big "X"
over the eye that was to be sliced open), started an IV, and moved me
to the OR.
I was technically awake for the procedure, but they blocked the optic
nerve so I wouldn't see what they were doing, and the IV kept me from
caring.
An hour later, they were putting a gauze pad over my left eye, giving
me a couple of vials of eye drops to take 4 times a day until gone,
and I got to sit and wait for my ride to come pick me up.
Tomorrow I get to take the bandage off, and, hopefully, will be able
to see clearly once again.
