What you've stumbled across here is the fundamental NHS philosophy
which is that it would work perfectly without all the pesky sick
people.
What they really want you to do is go away, and as quickly as
possible.
As you say, if you manage to die before getting to the top of the
waiting list,
that's one more appointment for someone else.

The only way I'm going into hospital ever ever ever again is if I'm
unconscious.
That way I won't be able to see the clods of hair on the floor under
the bed
where they haven't cleaned for six months.
