The first time it happened to me, I thought my retina was detaching. I
couldn't see out of that eye until the fizzy-flashy fractal shape had
expanded so that all the edges were outside my field of vision. Then I
looked it up on the internet and was quite relieved to find out that
all my eye bits were still in place.
