I was surprised at just how much is there.

I tried running them through Natural Voice Reader (that's the one
using AT&T's speech system - not those Stephen Hawking-style things
that Microsoft do)
It works quite well in terms of quality, but of course we're still a
long way from having them inject any kind of emotion into it.

As these texts are in the public domain, I thought about making some
of them into talking books and selling them on CD.
(yes, it's totally legal.  I'd own the copyright on the recordings,
and I'd be perfectly entitled to sell them).
