I used to fly a lot to Finland. Finnair from Heathrow business
classused to have the mythical brandy trolley (a trolley, shedloads of
gl***** and a nice woman with several bottles of fancy brandy.)

On top of that, business class (plus free included night in hotel) was
cheaper than cattle plus pay for your own hotel.

I got sick of the 2 hour each end Heathrow run, so I switched to SAS
(STN, change at Copenhagen) which, in Business class had a very good
booze trolley. If you followed the example of the other travellers, you
got in the lounge and hit the brandy and crisps. When you got on you
took the champagne. Then you had
1) a beer starter
2) bottle red wine for the meal
3) two mini bottles brandy for after the meal

you then probably got another couple of shots at the brandy if you
needed it (in an hour and a half)

you then got to Copenhagen and had a draught beer or possibly a
selection of shorts and miniatures.

You then repeat the above from champagne onwards on the
Copenhagen/Helsinki leg.

Schiphol is the only business lounge I've been in that has ****t on
optics.

Shanghai air****t has THE worst business/ first class lounge. It's a
glass box in the concourse with a selection of beer and a single moldy
sandwich in the fridge. There's maybe some funny dried peas that you
thought might be peanuts but aren't. And there's a couple of empty
servers that make you think there's food. Given you're stuck there for
1,5 hours there's nothing to do but drink the beer and read the book
you never got round to reading.

Emirates' ICE (Inflight Communications and Entertainment) is great, but
there's 47 films, and the vast majority were shockingly poor. Firewall,
for example. Or Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Monsters Inc was
good... On the other hand, the Iranian caviar and Dom Perignon
(refilled every few minutes) and the option of a post-prandial ****t
(vintage, of course) just made me want a Cohiba and I was set.....

Only downside was no wifi so I couldn't send email... "I'm 30,000 feet
in the air, pissed on champagne and ****t..." On the other hand, prolly
a good thing I couldn't get email...

Dubai lounges had a nice selection of what you might get in a
continental business hotel pur****ting to be breakfast....

Nothing compares to US air****ts for pure "Nothing fancy here. Think
'bus station'" travel.
