Must be.  But what amazes me is that there were enough people who
appreciate "monster rock" actually watching.

Aha.  Anybody of a certain age in the UK, (and possibly elsewhere)
will have heard of the late Dr Magnus Pyke in his arm-waving glory.
A jolly clever chap, and somewhat eccentric.

He once said:  
  "If it squirms, it's biology.  If it stinks*, it's chemistry.  If it
   doesn't work, it's physics.  If you can't understand it, it's
   mathematics."

(*stinks = smells bad in this context)
