Making Time has now been updated for May 2006. A home and
office
move has now been completed so, hopefully, the Making Time monthly updates
will be coming through more regularly soon.
CD Review: Manfred Mann- World of Mann: This CD brings
together two distinct sides of Manfred Mann's career, from the hit singles
in the 1960s to the Earthband of the 1970s. Some excellent tracks.
Book review: Ticket to Ride by Graham Sclater: Many
British groups went over the Germany, in particular Hamburg, to become
"professional" musicians. These included The Beatles and Gerry & the
Pacemakers. Graham Sclater's novel tells the story of the Cheetahs who
went
over the Germany to seek fame and fortune but it did not work out as
planned.
Featured artist: The Spencer Davis Group: Birmingham's
finest with the young Steve Winwood up front.
News: Alexis Korner, The Tremeloes, The Herd, The
Rockin'
Berries.
Win a Sam Cooke CD: The first track of the first Small
Faces album was Sam Cooke's Shake. Making Time's sister site Room for
Ravers
has three copies of Sam Cooke Portrait of a Legend to give away.
Room for Ravers has just started a new feature series
called Influences that profiles those artists that had a major influence
on
the Small Faces. To celebrate the start of this, answer three questions
about Sam Cooke to win a CD.
