The original scripts do have a scene with Bryant giving Deckard a
toungue la****ng for shooting Zhora in the open, but I think the moral
attitude of the time was set with the line "if your not cop your
little people". Remember the "respectable" people have all but left
earth and life is much tougher accross the board, and therefore more
cut throat. Remember she didn't exactly dress like somebody people
even today would care that much about. Prosititutes and exotic dancers
are one of the favorite targets of serial killers because not too many
people seem to care that they are missing. At least not the
"respectable" people
As far as Racheal goes, I had the feeling that the only person hunting
replicants at that time was Deckard. Therefore he was told probably
soon after Tyrell decided she was liability now that she knew who she
was. But to keep it from raising any red flags elsewhere it would have
been only known by Tyrell, Bryant, and Gaff before they had the chance
to tell Deckard personally. I think it was also being used as a test
to see Deckard's loyalty to his job.
As far as the chase goes I don't think it was in a straight line and
at most they only went one block(literally, since that was the size of
the set too). He seemed to chase her to the subway ramp and then she
seemed to double back. A good ****tion of the time she was hiding and
he was looking around. Leon may just have been planning on meeting up
with Zhora to walk her home too.
All in all I think it is all pretty plausible.
