IMDB states for a fact that Saul Bass did the titles for Alien. I've
heard this rumor many times, but never saw it confirmed. Ridley Scott
talked about the titles in one of the commentaries, and he gave credit
largely to the advertising company that had designed an early poster
with the "ALIEN" typography. He said gave them a shot for the movie
titles and was very happy with the outcome. (I guess he was mainly
talking about the animation that slowly revealed the title letters.)
Does anybody know of a reliable source that confirms or denies Bass'
involvement?
