I think it's like Batman, you can lampoon it,,,KERPOW!!!   BAM!!! or you 
could treat it with respect.  I think if it was done with sincerity, it 
wouldn't be cheeeeezzzzeeeyy.  I feel that many actors just take the 
piss in front of a green screen, or simply just can't act.  I'm no 
comicbook person, I've made clear before, but I respect that people love 
them.  However, Speed Racer looks a bit Judge Dread, it's such a big 
bombast world with larger than life characters, and so many people t 
seem to think that because of that, you have to camp up any adaptation.

Hellboy does it so very well, I mean how rediculous is the character of 
Hellboy??  How ripe an excuse to rip the piss, but no, it was taken 
seriously, and because of that, the character gains credibility.

However I think Speed Racer has just been camped up and has cartoonesque 
cgi. It really looks like the Wachowski boys only ever had one good film 
in them...
