Sadly, the name above the marquee still has not been restored! When I
toured the theater a few years ago, I was left with the impression that
the church removed the name (not wanting to be associated with filthy
lucre), but that it had been preserved and could be returned, based on
future use plans. I've started doing some volunteering for the
Conservancy's Historic Theater Committee, so I should ask them if they
know what happened to it. I would love to see that back up.
Million Dollar will host two Last Remaining Seats screenings:
June 4 -- Mildred Pierce
June 25 -- El Rey Del Barrio
I'm going to volunteer to help out at these events, but I don't know if
they need me yet or not. In any case, I'll probably attend the June 25
show (don't think I can sit through Mildred Pierce again), if anyone's
in town and wants to meet.
