Well, here's another thing.

In the FC, we have Batty saying, "I want more life, FATHER." In the
original and the DC, he says, "****er." But in the work print, he says,
"father." Now, when I watched the FC, I was so startled by this change,
I thought I noticed a slight alteration in the sound, as if it had been
dubbed. To go through this much trouble for a weaker word seemed a
misplaced focus of energy. Ridley proclaims that this is the version he
likes best. In the work print, we have "father." So "father" was the
initial choice. Was the FC a dub -- a re-recording -- or was it the
result of merely taking the original cut and reinserting it? Was I
mistaken in what I heard in the FC? Was the slight change in sound my
imagination because I had so often -- and I'd seen that movie about
thirty times -- heard it the other way?
