I'm not sure that we as pre-singularity people would be able to really
understand a post-singularity world, and as such it might end up looking
not too realistic, like one of those really bad futurist pics from the
thirties.
But your point brings up something im****tant- with the progress we've made
in robotics and with a better eye towards what is not only possible but
useful, we could end up with a pretty neat view of the future. Garbage-
Roombas on the streets? Healthcare issues? I'd like to see a careful eye
directed towards trends, and an appreciation of the networked nature of
the
modern world.
Cyberpunk was never about people filming themselves falling off roofs onto
trampolines or sitting on the hoods of slowly moving cars, or taking
pictures of their friends stinking drunk, but in the real world Youtube
and
Myspace are changing that view.
