I hate to interrupt all of you who post here about everyhing EXCEPT Barbra
Streisand, but I just thought I'd share a little bit of Barbra news with
other fans.
I fulfilled a lifelong dream last June when I flew to Vienna and saw
Barbra
perform in the courtyard of the Schonbrun Palace. In incredible setting
for
an incredible concert. The concert had to be postponed one day due to a
sort-of mini tornado that whipped through Vienna. The wind and rain
started
again the next day a couple of hours before the performance! I had flown
from NY to Vienna just to see Barbra and was terrified that she'd cancel
after the 2nd storm hit. But like the pro that she is, she went on just a
bit late after the weather had cleared. I spent the next couple of hours
living in a dream. She was so relaxed, so beautiful, and has such an
amazing
voice. I was just trans****ted. Imagine how I felt when she chose to answer
MY question from the stage!!! We all know she loves chocolate, and she had
just opened the tour in Zurich. I asked her if she preferred the chocolate
in Switzerland or Austria, and asked if I could buy her a box of her
favorites! I was just in heaven at this point. Her answer was Austria,
"Since I'm IN Austria!".
I put it off for a few months when I got home, but finally sent her a
letter
in c/o Marty Erlichman thanking her for making a dream come true, and
offering to send her the chocolates of her choice from ANY country.
Now here's the somewhat funny part...I got back a lovely signed
photograph.
Not signed To Brian, mind you...just her autograph. (Don't get me wrong.
I'm
happy to have it.) I thought it was really funny that the photo looks like
it was taken around the time of "Up The Sandbox" or maybe "On a Clear
Day..."! I guess they're still using up old stock! I'm thinking of send
her
a somewhat tongue in cheek letter including a photocopy of the photo that
I
received, and telling her how different she looked on stage in Vienna! But
that maybe it was just because I had "cheap" seats far from the stage. Or
that maybe my vision is finally starting to go.
I'm not sure how she is with slightly sarcastic, but good natured humor.
So
should I send the letter or not?
