Hello, I have been in this group a short time, maybe 3-6
months...something like that. First question, what did you feel you
would "accomplish" by joining the group and posting? Did you ever make
replies too and try to "help" others, or give them a comforting word
in their times of need? Basically what it comes down to, and you
probably already know this....it's up to ourselves to "help"
ourselves, like in loneliness for instance, there are people here to
talk to and touch base with, but with our everyday lives it is up to
us to help ourselves with our own problems because no one here can FIX
us, only we can fix ourselves, (but this group provides "support" in
our times of loneliness, and when we have no one to talk to or when we
need others to talk to and extra support. It provides us an
opportunity to meet other people to get support for ourselves and
offer support to them.) I feel that if you still after decades remain
as lonely and unfullfilled as you did in the beginning, and it
continues to affect your life, that it would be good for you to maybe
get some counseling..someone you can talk to in person and go to on a
regular basis, and still continue to visit with the people in this
group and try to become more social in your life so that you don't
feel so empty inside. A lot of people get counseling, so please don't
feel offended when I suggest that. It just means that there's things
in your life that your unhappy with, and a counslor could help you to
resolve some of those issues.

I think that in someway, we all try each day to change for the better.
But as I was saying, a counselor could help you figure out exactly
what it is that your wanting to change, and help you in reaching and
succeeding in that goal. It's up to you to figure out what it is that
you are lacking. It takes some deep soul searching, but you can do it,
and you will feel better when you overcome some of your troubles. I
feel being a member in this group, it's nice for me to get some
support, but what is more satisfying and rewarding of what I get out
of this group is if I can help someone else with a kind or gentle word
in their time of need, or if I can give them some ideas on how to
resolve something that is bothering them. Or JUST conversation. Search
within yourself. It's not always what you "get", but sometimes what
you "give" is one of the most relevant things. It takes only one
person sometimes to make a difference in someones life.
