Fillmore East question

by kyREMOVEcaver@[EMAIL PROTECTED] May 30, 2005 at 12:47 AM

I have the 2disk cd of the Allman Brothers, the Fillmore Concerts. It
is the Polydor release under the Chronicles lable. I had a coupon for
Best Buy, and the Deluxe edition from Mercury was on sale, so I picked
it up yesterday. I still have not opened it up, and I can still
return it, so I had a question about this release before I do anything
with it.

Is there a difference in sound quality between these two versions? Is
the new remastered Mercury version noticably better sounding? There
are so many versions of this set floating around, 1 disc versions, 1
disc remastered, SACD hybrid, 2 disc, and 2 disc remastered, I am not
sure if I will be getting an improved sounding disc, or just the same
set repackaged.

Also, I have read comments on Amazon about various remixes done by Tom
Dowd, some people saying this version is better, others saying that
one is the best, etc. Anyone have any comments about the two versions
that I have, the Polydor 2 disc and the Mercury DE 2 disc?

Any info will be appreciated. Thanx.
