"One who lacks knowledge" is but one definition for "idiot." It also can
mean "a foolish or stupid person" (from Merriam-Webster).
Foolish means "lacking in sense, judgment, or discretion." Being
intelligent does not automatically grant one any of these three traits.
I've known people with sub-average IQs who have made very wise decisions
and geniuses who have been idiots.
